Een kleine steltloper op een natte, zanderige ondergrond met wat zeewier of algen. De vogel heeft een korte, zwarte snavel die iets omlaag gebogen is, donkere poten, een lichte buik en een bruin-wit geschakeerde rug en kop. De omgeving oogt als een slik of wad, waarschijnlijk bij de kust. Het licht en de kleuren zijn zacht, wat een rustige indruk geeft.
