Brassfield Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, California Dark ruby/ Inky in color with a wide reddish rim. Strong nose of blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, light wood, dried fruits, chocolates and tobacco. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, black cherries, light oak, licorice, light vanilla, dark chocolates, earth, peppercorn and tobacco leaf. Medium length on the finish with medium tannins and tangy cherries. This 4 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from California is drinking nicely now. Rich, chewy and extracted. Fruit forward on the nose, and much drier on the palate. Interesting, and easy drinking. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes in the decanter, when the tannins show up. Might need a couple of years in the bottle to mature properly. Good by itself or with food, a good party wine too. 15.4% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $28.

This 4 year old Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County is drinking beautifully. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward, elegant and complex. Spicy with a nice mouthfeel. Wine Spectator 93 points. Robert Parker 98 points. Definitely not your typical California Chardonnay, but rather more in the style of a white Sin Qua Non. Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing raspberries, cherries, spices, peppercorn, light wood, coffee, herbs and light vegetables. Tangy finish with round tannins and tangy pomegranates. This 5 year old Barolo is young and elegant. Showing nice balance with good structure. Has enough acidity to last it for a while. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 7 years. Easy drinking and better with food. 100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. 14% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $45.

Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a very tasty 9 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Lake County in California. Fruit forward and spicy. Good right out of the bottle, and gets earthier and spicier as it opens up. I had this vintage 5 years ago and it is drinking so much better now. Will not improve from this point on, so drink up. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Kosher and Mevushal. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $50 (current vintage).

Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing lemons, green and red apples, citrus, spices, minerals, light oak, herbs, sea salt and light earth. Long finish with limes and herbs. This is a delicious Chardonnay from Oregon. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Spicy and salty. This 6 year old Single Vineyard Chardonnay, still feels young and would continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Feels like a good quality Burgundy white. Elegant, easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Chardonnay grapes were aged on the lees, in French oak barrels for 14 months. 13.7% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $100.

Lighter in body than I expected, though. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A good quality wine. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot. Aged in (18% new) French oak barrels for 24 months. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $60.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate with fresh cherries, sweet raspberries, light wood, earth, herbs, light chocolates and peppercorn. Tangy finish with soft tannins and cranberries. This Cabernet Sauvignon from Chalk Hill is still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Fruit forward, rich and nicely balanced. This Bordeaux blend feels very vibrant with lots of flowers notes. Soft and smooth, with mild complexity. Tangy and spicy. Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, light oak, spices, dark chocolates, light mint, coffee, peppercorn, licorice, herbs, light earth and black tea. Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Merlot from the great 2016 vintage in Pomerol. Nicely balanced and fruit forward. Still young and restrained, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but drinking so well already. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine. Rich and chewy. Complex, entertaining and good by itself as a sipping wine. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 16 months in (70% new) French Oak barrels. 14% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $150.
