Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel. Showing black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, chocolates, toast, licorice, spices, earth, tobacco and herbs. Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Merlot based blend from Bordeaux. Rich and extracted. Nicely balanced and complex. This 16 year old is starting to drink at its peak now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Wine Advocate 96 points. Wine Spectator 96 points. I've had the 2012 a few years ago, but this 2010 vintage is showing so much better. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. A blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 17 months in French Oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $180.

This is a delicious 14 year old GSM blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich, but not extracted. Elegant with lots of chocolate notes. Well balanced with nice complexity. Impressively fresh and youthful for its age, with good structure and balance. The high alcohol is well integrated by now. I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. A gorgeous wine to drink by itself or with food. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Grapes from very old vines are aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months. 15% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $100.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing red cherries, currants, plums, chocolates, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, peppercorn and licorice. Short finish with grippy tannins and tart cranberries. This is a very young Single Vineyard Mourvedre from Bandol. Rich, complex and powerful. In your face kind of wine, and not very approachable right now, but showing good potential. Needs a long time to open up, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Better with food at this point. A blend of 92% Mourvedre and 8% Grenache. Aged in large French oak barrels. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $40.

I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it is much better with age. A good sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 12 months in (50% new) French oak barrels. 13% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $80.

Long finish with limes and light herbs. This is a delicious Champagne, but feels extremely young. Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex and interesting. Rich and tangy. Soft and smooth. Much better after 45 minutes of airtime, and better when not too cold. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.
