With it, they can detect α-synuclein, the protein that is involved in the pathology in PD, which is enriched in EVs from PD patients. To validate their assay's detection of rare EV subpopulations, they inspected them using #dSTORM on the #Nanoimager and confirmed that their assay is very sensitive.

Several methods were used to study these EVs, among them ONI's #EVProfiler with the #Nanoimager and the software #CODI. Here is one the main figures in the paper which demonstrates how Integrin-enriched EVs lead to thrombosis.
