7️⃣To sum up, our work shows that Sox5 is crucial to balance shallow and deep #Quiescence in NSCs during the first postnatal weeks of #DentateGyrus development. This balance ⚖️ is crucial for long-lasting #AdultNeurogenesis✨🔬
2️⃣How did we figure this out? We used conditional mutant 🐁 during critical developmental stages & found that Sox5 is required to restrict the initial entry in #Quiescence of NSCs. Intriguingly, we discovered a critical window in the second postnatal week when NSCs build up a shallow quiescent state.
1️⃣Here we show that Sox5 is crucial for developmental NSCs to enter #Quiescence and for long-life maintenance of the adult stem niche in the #DentateGyrus of the #Hippocampus . Do you want to learn more?
