They are being watched over by a tusked matriarch, standing at a slight remove to the left of the frame. She is closest to the camera and is seen in profile. The others are in a group together, forming a short, unbroken line in the centre of the photo. The bottom half of the frame is filled with yellow and green grass. The background of the top half is a light grey, possibly stormy, sky. There are several acacia trees in the middle distance near the herd group with dark branches contrasting nicely with the sky and their sparse canopies the same green as the grass.
