Ridiculously large and fluffy bumblebee diving into a bright red crocosmia flower, with a dusting of pollen above and a large parcel of collected pollen on its leg.
Narrow, muscular fly with a small head made almost entirely of red-brown eyes and a long proboscis, posed over a larger, mangled-looking hoverfly - on the pale stem of a grass seed head.
Red Admiral butterfly with wings outstretched, outer edges black with red and white splotches, and the body and inner parts of the wings a velvety red-black in the sunshine, fine hairs over deep structure. From its head, fine striped white-and-black antennae.
Small, elegant fly with a vivid, iridescent, metallic green body - glossy wings folded over the abdomen, with pale patches at the tips of the wings. On a leaf splashed with flattened drops of water.
Bugs? Yes. From the last day or two!

A very leggy, orange - brown - yellow robber fly with bulging green eyes, a shiny sharp-looking black proboscis, and hump-backed thorax with some black markings amidst the orange and yellow areas. The fly is perched on an angled green leaf.
A long light-green caterpillar with six angled white/dark diagonal lines on the side of its body, culminating in a greenish-blue horn arising from the end of the body. The caterpillar is stretched out along a paw pap leaf it is feeding from the right side.
A dead, khaki-brown colored fly with several rings of fungal conidia bursting throught the intersegmental membranes of the abdomen. The fly is perched on a narrow green leaf blade.

A Robberfly, Dysmachus trigonus, aka the Fan-bristled Robberfly, being held reverently high whilst being examined for identification purposes. At Kenfig National Nature Reserve, a sand dunes reserve in South Wales known for a great range of Invertebrates.
This, I believe, is the proper way to regard the Fan-bristled Robberfly, Dysmachus trigonus, on a sunny day at Kenfig National Nature Reserve.
