A Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius). A very secretive, woodland bird that is seldom seen although it makes an awful lot of noise.

Short-eared owl (Asio flammeus) hunting over the Pentland Hills south of Edinburgh. The local breeding population swells in winter with migrants coming over from the near Continent to take advantage of our milder winters.

Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga) aka snakebird, darter, American darter, or water turkey. This was taken in the Everglades.
