Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé Champagne 2012, France #AgedWineTuesday Very pretty color of peach with a salmon hue. Strong nose of apples, citrus, peaches, yeast, light bread and minerals. Medium plus in body with medium acidity and tiny bubbles. Dry on the palate with raspberries, over ripen strawberries, apples, limes, yeast, sea salt, brioche, spices, minerals, light earth and cardamom. Long spicy finish with limes and grapefruits. This 14 year old Rosé Champagne is drinking beautifully already, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Elegant, spicy and rich. Fruity and nicely balanced, complex and engaging. Wine Spectator 96 points. Wine Advocate 95 points. Good right out of the bottle, and better when not too cold. A great sipping wine that paired beautifully with my Tuna Avocado Tartare. A blend of 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay, with 5% red wine. Disgorged in 2020. 12% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $200.

Holly's Hill Vineyards Patriarche 2023, El Dorado, California Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Nose of red and blue fruits with light wood, spices, coffee, earth, tobacco leaf and herbs. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, red currants, earth, light wood, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco and black pepper. Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a very tasty Mourvedre based Rhone blend from El Dorado in California. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Fruit forward, complex and elegant. Feels like a California red with a touch of Cotes du Rhône. Easy drinking and needs 20 minutes in the glass to open up and remove some of the alcohol notes. Already drinking very nicely, and would be nice to see how it evolves in the next few years. A great sipping wine to drink by the porch. I gave it a light chill and paired it with cheeses and crackers. A blend of 60% Mourvedre, 19% Syrah, 11% Grenache and 10% Counoise. Aged in used French oak barrels for 10 months. A small production of less than 5,000 bottles. 14.2% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $45.

This is a very tasty red wine from Portugal. Elegant and nicely balanced. Full-bodied with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing black fruits with wood, earth, spices, tobacco, chocolates peppercorn and coffee notes. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. Still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Field Blend grapes from old vines were aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 18 months. 91 points.

Beautiful nose with red and black fruits, oak, chocolates, vanilla, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, licorice and black tea. Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, chocolates, tobacco leaf, bitter herbs, peppercorn, earth, black tea, licorice and vegetables. Tangy finish with round tannins and pomegranates. This 13 year old Rioja Reserva is still too young. A little unbalanced, and needs another 5 years in the bottle to mature properly. Needed a few hours to open up. I gave it 2 hours in the decanter, but it might not have been enough. Showing good potential but it's not there yet. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is always better with more age. Tangy, spicy and a better with food. A blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Aged in used American oak barrels. 13% alcohol by volume. 88 points. $40.

The nose reminds me of a California Sauvignon Blanc. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. A good sipping wine that also paired nicely with my grilled Mahi Mahi soft tacos. 13% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $18.

Dry on the palate with black currants, blackberries, cooked cherries, cedar, toast, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, licorice, coffee, light black tea and peppercorn. Short finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This is a delicious, yet so young Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Elegant and rich. Complex and entertaining. Well balanced and spicy. Really enjoyed the nose. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes in the decanter. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 to 20 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. This is a delicious 11 year old White blend from Israel. Well balanced, elegant and rich. Complex and entertaining, tangy and interesting. Still feels fresh and youthful. I had a few vintages of this wine before, and decided to wait for a few years. I could have waited even longer. Such an interesting wine. Smells like a Chardonnay /Viognier blend, and on the palate the Sauvignon Blanc is more dominant. The mouthfeel reminds me of a white Burgundy. Good right out of the bottle, and better when not too cold. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. A blend of 40% Viognier with Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Dabuki. Aged in used French oak barrels for 10 months. 13.4% alcohol by volume. 92 points.

This is a tasty Single Vineyard Pinot Noir from Santa Rita Hills in California. Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex and easy drinking. I’ve had a few Pinots from this producer, and this one shows much earthier than the others. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolves. Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This 9 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in Washington State is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and nicely balanced, with nice complexity and mouthfeel. Rich and extracted, fruit forward and smooth. Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. I had this vintage 5 years ago, and it is drinking much better now. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime. Bold, delicious and good by itself as a sipping wine. Will also pair nicely with a nice piece of steak. I paired it with a charcuterie board and it paired beautifully with the Italian prosciutto. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (93% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months. 15% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $55 (at release).

I had this vintage 5 years ago, and it is drinking much better now. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime. Bold, delicious and good by itself as a sipping wine. Fresh red fruits on the nose with light oak, chocolates, light licorice, earth, sweet tobacco, herbs, mediterranean spices, tea leaf and light green vegetables. Medium plus in body and elegant with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, light oak, spices, dark chocolates, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, bell pepper and peppercorn. Tangy and spicy finish with fine grained tannins. This young Napa Cabernet feels very fresh and youthful, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Juicy and tangy, complex and interesting. Spicy and entertaining, elegant and easy drinking Not your typical Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, and feels more like a Left Bank Bordeaux. The Cabernet Franc seems to be very dominant right now.
