This lil guy is an Eight Spotted Leaf Beetle, chosen because I saw one at work the other day. Leaf Beetles are a diverse family of beetles. In Australia they are common in Eucalypts, Acacias and Melaleuca's along with other native plant species.

Perons Tree Frog is a regular inhabitant in the car port
We get some big female Huntsman Spiders can be 130mm or bigger. This one is about half that size so maybe a male. Anyway they are welcome in the house ... except in the bedrooms 😀

Photo is of a large (60mm) moth resting on timber boards. The moth is mostly fawn with black and grey patterning on body and wings. It has 2 strong black stripes on the top of its head.

A cicada on a tree. It's at its teneral stage, when it has recently molted and its exoskeleton is yet to harden and get its final colouration. The dominant colour of both the cicade and the tree is pale orange, which gives the photo a striking look.

Processing photos today, I realised I've found the 500th species at my home - this nice little cuckoo wasp. Not bad for just three years.

First Christmas Beetle - Lamprima aurata - of the season. This one is reddish gold in the sunlight but when moved to the shade it looks green. Last year I mainly saw pink ones.
