The Vice Wines The Waterfall Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, Napa Valley, California It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Ruby in color with medium plus intensity and a wide reddish rim. Strong nose with red and blue fruits, light oak, spices, wild flowers and chocolate notes. Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with blueberries, black currants, plums, tobacco, licorice, light oak, coffee, spices, chocolates, peppercorn and light tea. Tangy finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries. This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder is starting to drink very nicely now. Tangy and spicy. Complex with a nice mouthfeel. Tangy and engaging. Showing good structure, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly. Fruity, but not in your face kind of wine. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be interesting to revisit it in 5 years. Needs a couple of hours in the decanter to open up properly. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from vines grown at 2,400 feet of elevation, were aged in (70% new) French Oak barrels for 24 months. A small production of only 3,000 bottles. 14.3% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $125.

This 14 year old Pinot Noir from Burgundy is still drinking very nicely. Elegant, complex and interesting. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Soft and smooth, spicy and entertaining. Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food. I paired it with pasta and Ragu sauce. 13% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $300.

Chateau de la Gardine Cuvée de Generations Gaston Phillipe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2012, Rhône, France #AgedWineTuesday. Dark ruby in color with a reddish/ brick rim. Pretty nose of red and black fruits with cedar, licorice and chocolate notes. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, plums, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper and tobacco leaf. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious 14 year old GSM blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich, but not extracted. Elegant with lots of chocolate notes. Well balanced with nice complexity. Impressively fresh and youthful for its age, with good structure and balance. The high alcohol is well integrated by now. I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. A gorgeous wine to drink by itself or with food. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Grapes from very old vines are aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months. 15% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $100.

Adelsheim Vineyard Boulder Bluff Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019, Chehalem Mountains, Oregon Reddish/ purplish in color with light intensity. Soft on the nose and medium in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing red currants, cherries, earth, black coffee, light oak, spices, herbs and black tea. Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a very tasty Pinot Noir from Oregon. Elegant and nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. This Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is complex, spicy and entertaining. Wine Enthusiasts 92 points. Wine Spectator 88 points. Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years. A little longer for this Magnum. Good by itself as a sipping wine. 100% Pinot Noir grapes were grown on volcanic soils from 25 year old vines. Drunk from a Magnum. 13% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $85 (750ml).

Beautiful nose of fresh red fruits with light wood, dark chocolates, Indian spices, light earth and herbs. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with sweet cherries, plums, red currants, earth, light wood, spices, coffee, herbs and peppercorn. Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This young Pinot Noir from Laureleood district in Oregon is starting to drink very nicely. Fruity and juicy. Complex and rich. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime, when more complexity comes in and brings more structure to the wine. Easy drinking and very inviting. Tangy and interesting. Nicely balanced with a spicy mouthfeel. 100% Pinot Noir grapes were aged in (45% new) French Oak barrels for 16 months. 13.6% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $70.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a delicious Merlot from Pomerol. Well balanced and complex. Tangy and tasty. Rich and elegant, with enough fruits to compliment the earth notes. Spicy and entertaining. This 18 year old is drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it is much better with age. A good sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Chateau D'yquem Sauternes 2023, Bordeaux, France Drinking this pre-release bottle of this iconic wine from Bordeaux. Light gold in color. Strong nose and Full-bodied. Sweet on the palate with high acidity to balance the sugars. Showing melons, tropical fruits, apples, light earth, guava, herbs, spices, papaya and honey notes. The Walls Vineyards Stanley Groovy Lip Stinger 2023, Washington State Nice color of lemon with a golden hue. Nose of citrus, lemons, apples, earth, spices, limes and minerals. Medium bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with grapefruits, lemons, green apples, spices, bitter herbs and light earth. Tangy finish with limes and spices. This is a very tasty white Rhone blend from Washington State. Elegant and nicely balanced. Spicy, delicate and entertaining. Feels like a White Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A lovely surprise. Good right out of the bottle, gets earthier as it opens up, and the high alcohol is not noticeable. Good by itself or with food, and paired very nicely with the Avocado Tuna Tartar. A blend of 60% Grenache Blanc, 18% Roussanne, 9% Picpoul, 9% Viognier and 4% Marsanne. 14.6% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $32.

Fruity nose of black currants, black plums, blackberries, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and black pepper. Full-bodied and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and fruit forward on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, dried fruits, cedar, chocolates, figs, cola, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, herbs, spices and light earth. Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This 17 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is still drinking beautifully. Rich and engaging. Elegant, soft and fruit forward. Beautifully balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Needed 90 minutes in the bottle to open up properly and show great complexity, with good structure. This gorgeous Cabernet is still drinking at its peak, but will not get better from this point on. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years. A great sipping wine that will pair nicely with a big piece of steak too. A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot.
