Among adults in two US biobanks, #ClonalHematopoiesis of indeterminate potential was associated with increased risk of incident #Pericarditis, but not #Myocarditis, supporting gene-driven inflammation as a therapeutic target.

Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) is the age-related expansion of mutated blood stem cell clones that increases the risk of blood cancer. A recent publication shows that #IL1RAP isn’t just a marker of CH, it appears to drive it.

#ClonalHematopoiesis / #CHIP is associated with worse survival in pts treated for solid cancers, but the evolutionary mechanisms driving differential CH dynamics are unknown. To get at this, we calculated therapeutic bottleneck sizes in pts treated for cancer.
1,157 people with TP53-CHIP from BioBankJapan followed over a decade (vs 140,000 controls), TP53-CHIP associated with myeloid, lymphoid neoplasms, respiratory disease mortality. The impact is modulated by lifestyle (smoking and drinking). Stay healthy!
