Photo taken at the Outdoor Museum of Assemblage Art in Joshua Tree, California. The image is a close up capture of a black bowling ball with other balls out of focus and set in the distance. The artist, Noah Purifoy, created large scale abstract pieces of artwork from found or acquired mundane objects—thus the “assemblage” name given to his outdoor creative space. He was co-founder of The Watts Tower Art Center, attended CalArts, and since his death in 2004, some of his works have been taken from their desert space and shown at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Hammer Museum. The museum is a magical place and well worth the side trip if in the high desert area.
