If you live in Scandinavia and want to attract a lot of butterflies to your garden, a big border with oregano is a good bet.
But oregano is also a brute that will spread everywhere, so maybe stick it in a pot instead.

Build it and they will come. Our little patch of wild garden is full of Globe Thistles and Hemp-agrimony now and the insects just love it. Not for them a rest on the seventh day. They are hard at it today. Such a pleasure.

We live in a tiny old terrace home with a long thin garden but we have reserved a section near the end for wild planting. Now it’s a mess of Hemp-Agrimony, Teasels and Globe Thistles, replacing the earlier pink Campions. The insects like it as do we.

When I moved here, the first summer the yard was full of clover and the scent of its flowers filled the air. My geese pick the flowers off and mow it short, so one gardening goal was to return areas of clover to the property

Today I learned crocuses are vital spring flowers because they’re one of the honeybee’s first food sources at a time they most need it.
(They overlap slightly on the calendar with their late winter forage option: snowdrops.)

I bought a few berry bushes a few months ago to plant in the wild garden, hoping the birds would eat the berries. One bush had been losing its berries, and yesterday I noticed a blackbird eating them after plucking them off.

Garten wurde heute weiter "angelegt." Es kam noch ein 2. No-Dig-Beet dazu.
Außerdem noch ein paar "Beete" mit Stamm-/Aststücken markiert, in denen hohe Wildblumen wachsen dürfen/sollen.
