Taken on this mornings walk…a curtain of willow reaching down to the river. ☀️🌳 #derbyshire #riverderwent

A landscape oriented image taken at a low angle on the bank of the river Derwent in Chatsworth Park on an icy cold snowy morning. So cold part of the river is frozen. Across the river is Chatsworth House and it’s also reflected in the river. On my side of the river are reeds and grass all sprinkled with snow and a little way beyond a couple are enjoying a stroll along the river.

A landscape oriented image taken from a low angle. I’m right down by the river on a riverbank in Chatsworth Park. To the left is the snow covered grass of the riverbank that climbs up an out of the frame. A little way along it is an outlet of some sort made in stone, it’s a good age. The river is to my right, it’s rippling away merrily and looking very cold. Ahead of me in the distance is a weir with water tumbling over it and sending a cold mist into the air. Right across the horizon are trees, looking fairly small as they are some distance away. Above is the early morning sky, with hints of pink as the sun begins to rise.

A landscape oriented image of a beautiful mature tree overhanging a river. The tree stands on the right bank and stretches right over the river. The bottom two thirds is a reflection of the above, but with a little more than we actually see. It’s early autumn and the colours are green, yellow and orange.

A landscape oriented image taken in the blue hour before sunrise in my local meadows. There was a light mist hanging over the meadows, that was what had drawn me from the house. I’m fortunate in being able to see the meadows from my bedroom window. I walked down the river side to a spot where the river was coming in on the left but immediately bending away going into the photo before turning again and running out of sight. On either side of the river stands a tree, both are silhouetted against the sky. A rickety fence comes into the image on the right and runs down to the river.

This is one from the archive. It was taken on a very cold, but exceedingly beautiful morning just before the sun came up. Coming in on the bottom left and then running away into the image is a river and the river is glowing red and orange as it reflects the colours in the sky. Across the rest of the bottom of the image is grass made white with a thick layer of frost. In the near distance are trees and an old ruined mill, above everything is a sky full of colour. Orange, red, yellow and blue.

I can still see it now in my mind’s eye it was such a spectacle.

Ah, so this is what Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) looks like in seed. I stopped intrigued by the first one, then a friend showed me an army of them round a bend in the river. Quite a spectacle

"Chatsworth House is a stately home in the Derbyshire Dales, 4 miles (6.4 km) north-east of Bakewell and 9 miles (14 km) west of Chesterfield, England. The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has belonged to the Cavendish family since 1549. It stands on the east bank of the River Derwent, across from hills between the Derwent and Wye valleys, amid parkland backed by wooded hills that rise to heather moorland.

The house holds major collections of paintings, furniture, Old Master drawings, neoclassical sculptures and books. Chosen several times as Britain's favourite country house, it is a Grade I listed property from the 17th century, altered in the 18th and 19th centuries.[1] In 2011–2012 it underwent a £14-million restoration. The owner is the Chatsworth House Trust, an independent charitable foundation formed in 1981, on behalf of the Cavendish family] "
